Bio
Helena McLeod is Acting Director General and Head of the Green Growth Planning & Implementation Division at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). In this role she leads the 50+ country operations, spread throughout Latin America, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific, and their implementation work, to achieve economic growth that is environmentally sustainable, socially inclusive and climate compatible. Helena, a British national, has over 25 years of experience designing and leading innovative development programmes and high performing multi-disciplinary teams in the areas of green cities, renewable energy, sustainable transport, climate smart agriculture, forest preservation, climate resilience, trade and regional economic integration. She has lived for much of the past twenty five years in Africa, as well as in the Pacific and Asia and worked globally. Her career has been in the public, development bank and private sectors. She has designed and managed over $1billion of grant funds aimed at leveraging many more billions of public and commercial finance, to solve global green growth challenges. As well as dedicating her career to the green growth transition, she is a people and disability champion. She holds an MSc degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics (with distinction) from the University College London and a BSc degree in Economics from the London School of Economics.
