Bio
Mr. Jianhai Lin was formerly the Secretary of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), its Board of Governors and the International Monetary and Financial Committee. He is currently Executive Vice President of the International Finance Forum and a member of the Bretton Woods Committee. He is also an honorary professor at School of Economics, Peking University, and the China Foreign Affairs University, as well as a visiting professor at several other universities. Mr. Lin joined the IMF in 1989 and was appointed to the position of the Secretary in 2012. During 2012-2020, he oversaw the Secretary’s Department that had the operational responsibility for the 24-member Executive Board and served as the official contact of the IMF’s 190 member countries on institutional, governance, and other major policy matters. He was also responsible for organizing the IMF’s Spring and Annual Meetings. Mr. Lin studied at the University of International Business and Economics and the University of California, Berkeley, and received his doctoral degree from the George Washington University.
