Bio
Zhang Jian is Vice President of the Institute of Climate Change and Sustainable Development at Tsinghua University, Executive Director of the Low Carbon Energy Laboratory at Tsinghua University, and Deputy Secretary General of the Global Alliance of Universities on Climate. His research interests include global climate governance, sustainable development, as well as international and comparative education. He is lead for several research projects including the China mid-century low carbon transition strategy project, the Synergizing environmental and climate actions research program in collaboration with UNEP, the Green Belt and Road project, and China’s healthcare decarbonization pathway initiative. He is author of the Chinese version of “A Clean Planet for All: A European Long-term Strategic Vision for a Prosperous, Modern, Competitive and Climate Neutral Economy”, and a number of research articles. He is member of the Academic Committee of IFF, member of the Academic Committee of Beijing ESG Institute, Deputy Chief-editor for Sustainable Development Blue Book, and working group member of UN’s STI4SDG taskforce.
