John Lipsky is the Peter G. Peterson Distinguished Scholar at the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs and a Senior Fellow in the Foreign Policy Institute at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
Most recently, was first deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund; previously held positions of vice chairman of JPMorgan Investment Bank, chief economist at JPMorgan Chase, chief economist and director of research at Chase Manhattan Bank, and chief economist and, previously, director of the European Economic and Market Analysis Group in London, at Salomon Brothers; is a Director of the American Council on Germany, and a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations; PhD, economics, Stanford University.
Minouche Shafik is an economist, policymaker, and central banker with over thirty years of leadership experience. She began her career at the World Bank in the 1980s and, at the age of 36, became the youngest vice president in the bank's history. She led $50 billion in infrastructure projects, transforming them from the worst-performing to the best-performing projects, and provided policy advice to governments in post-communist Eastern Europe.
She previously served as the Permanent Secretary of the UK Department for International Development, where she helped the department become a top performer and ensured the UK met its commitment to allocate 0.7% of GDP to aid for developing countries. During her time as Deputy Managing Director at the International Monetary Fund, she addressed the European debt crisis and the instability of the Arab Spring. Subsequently, she served as Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, President of the London School of Economics (LSE), and President of Columbia University.
Shafik completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts, earned her master's degree at the London School of Economics, and received her DPhil from the University of Oxford. She holds a life peerage and serves as a crossbench member of the House of Lords in the UK, with honorary doctorates from several universities. Recently, she published the book What We Owe Each Other.
Siddharth Tiwari became chief representative of Asia and Pacific, Bank for International Settlements (BIS) on 1 November 2018.
Before joining the BIS, Mr. Tiwari served as executive secretary to the G20 Eminent Persons Group on Global Financial Governance from 2017 to 2018. From 1985 to 2017, he was at the IMF, where he occupied top-level positions and shepherded the institution's work on strategy, policy and lending operations, as well as on administrative matters. He also has significant experience in international policymaking and cooperation, including on issues of great relevance to the Asia-Pacific region.
He earned his master's and doctorate degrees in economics from the University of Chicago.
